SUCCESSFUL clubs talk a lot about strength in depth. In Surrey’s case it’s far from a cliché. What pleased the champions most about the draw they eked out against Essex last week was the performance of youngsters Ryan Patel and Will Jacks.
The pair might not have expected to play Surrey’s season curtain raiser before Jason Roy and Scott Borthwick failed late fitness tests.
