DIRECTOR of cricket Mick Newell says Nottinghamshire had no hesitation in signing up Harry Gurney on a whiteball only contract – just to prevent a clambering for his signature.
The 32-year-old left-armer announced his retirement from County Championship cricket on Wednesday and immediately agreed a new deal at Trent Bridge until 2020 for the T20 Blast and One-Day Cup.
That has freed up Gurney to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League this month.
