Cracknell resistance leaves Irish in limbo

JOE Cracknell marked himself out as a star of the future with a battling century as Middlesex gave Ireland a fight in their warm-up game at Merchant Taylor’s.
The 19-year-old wicketkeeper batsman showed all of his fighting qualities after Ireland’s Craig Young helped reduce Middlesex to 22-4, finishing unbeaten on 105 from 128 balls.
Middlesex declared on 290-9, Young the star with ball with 4-29 while Mark Adair and Stuart Thompson claimed two scalps apiece before the second day was ruined by the rain.
