Power not the only element for Lahiru

SRI LANKA’S Lahiru Thirimanne has dispelled the notion that power hitting is integral to a strong limited-overs team. The 29-year-old lefthanded batsman need only look back to his side’s World Twenty20-winning exploits of 2014 when they only racked up one score of 170 on the way to lifting the trophy.
Players such as West Indies opener Chris Gayle, England’s Jos Buttler and Australian Glenn Maxwell have reinvented the oneday game with their own brand of power-hitting which has batting line-ups eyeing scores now in excess of 450.
