HE’S been at the club since he was 13, and Northants batsman Rob Newton will not be leaving anytime soon having signed a new two-year deal at the club.
Newton, 27, was first spotted by Northants’ head coach David Ripley at the age of 12 and went on to progress through the club’s academy.
He has shone with the bat this year, making five fifties and a century in four-day cricket and 234 runs in seven appearances against the white ball.
Newton said: “I’ve been here since I was 13 so it’s great to be able to continue my career with Northants.
