India took the title, crushing New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad.
It didn’t come as much surprise that the hosts lifted the trophy. Sure, there was the group stage loss to South Africa, and England pushed them close in the semi-final, but in home conditions and with a side packed with T20 run machines and Jasprit Bumrah leading their bowling attack, it would have been foolish to bet against them.
