WHEN the powers that be at Sussex sat Stuart Whittingham down last year and told him he could explore other options away from Hove, the panic really set in.
Still only 24 at the time, but after an injury-hit campaign spent largely in the second XI, Whittingham was no longer needed at Sussex – the county he had called home since the Under-10s.
