GOOD LUCK to Ireland today as they take on Afghanistan in only their second Test match.
This, of course, is likely to become a permanent fixture in the future after both were awarded Test status but William Porterfield and the like will be champing at the bit for the opportunity to play Test cricket.
Victory here could open many doors for either side with teams like West Indies, Bangladesh and Pakistan waiting in the wings.
Ireland, of course, have got England in a one-off Test later in the summer; just imagine the confidence they would gain from notching a historic first Test win.
