Gloucestershire hand “exceptionally promising” Kamran Dhariwal a new two-year contract
The 21-year-old batter has committed his future to Gloucestershire after an impressive breakthrough season while balancing professional cricket with medical studies at the University of Bristol.
Gloucestershire have rewarded Kamran Dhariwal with a new two-year contract following the batter’s breakthrough campaign with the county.
The 21-year-old, who is studying medicine at the University of Bristol, will continue to combine his academic commitments with professional cricket after agreeing fresh terms.
Dhariwal said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue his development at Bristol.
“Obviously I’m really happy. Gloucestershire has given me a lot, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had so far this season,” he said.

Quality
“Hopefully it can continue, and I can repay the club with performances on the pitch.”
Director of cricket Jon Lewis believes the county has secured one of its brightest young talents.
“Kamran is an exceptionally promising talent,” Lewis said. “Balancing his studies at one of the country’s premier universities with elite professional cricket is a testament to his drive.
“His performances at Sophia Gardens and New Road showcase his quality as a batter, and we are committed to helping him reach his high ceiling.
“Working alongside Bristol University, we look forward to supporting Kamran’s growth both on and off the pitch.”
Record-breaker
Dhariwal has enjoyed a memorable first season after making his professional debut in this year’s Vitality Blast against Warwickshire Bears in May, helping Gloucestershire to victory.
However, it was the following evening that he truly announced himself, producing a calm and composed middle-order innings alongside Matt Taylor to guide his county to a dramatic last-ball win over Severnside rivals Glamorgan.
He then etched his name into the record books against Worcestershire Rapids, smashing a 13-ball half-century in just nine minutes to record the fastest domestic T20 fifty in England by elapsed time.
His blistering 70 from 22 deliveries, including eight sixes, turned the game in Gloucestershire’s favour and secured their place in the Vitality Blast quarter-finals.
Since then, Dhariwal has also made his List A debut in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
The right-hander progressed through Hampshire’s Academy and the South Asian Cricket Academy before joining Gloucestershire on a rookie contract after impressing the club’s scouting team during the 2025 season.
