Unlike this August’s publication, not everything or everyone can return from a period away with all the familiar facets of their character intact.
Many of us know someone who emerged from the Covid lockdown as a pale shadow of the person who entered it. In truth, some have not really returned at all.
I am no lockdown sceptic but should the world be hit by a similar infection in the years to come, we must weigh up the downside of prolonged isolation against our fear of the disease itself.
