There have been many great Ashes innings over the decades but for sheer bravura and lack of inhibition few can have matched Zak Crawley’s 189 against Australia at Old Trafford.
This was a magnum opus made at Warp Factor Nine without concession to friend or foe. Crawley did not discriminate against Australia’s bowlers, he was prejudiced against all of them, the ball speeding boundary-wards to the sound of gunshot cracks from his bat.
