What another extraordinary achievement by Jimmy Anderson: 20 years as a fast bowler in Test cricket. Back in 2002, having taken 50 wickets in his first season at Lancashire, Jimmy got picked for the England A tour to Australia that winter – and I was his roommate.
At some point we were called into a meeting room and Rod Marsh, then director of the ECB’s National Academy, told us that Jimmy had been called up to the England ODI squad who were currently in Australia. I’ve got a photo at home of me and Jimmy shaking hands, with Rod in the background. That was the beginning.
