As a Jamaican bobsledder once put it, I’m feeling Olympic today. As I type, the opening ceremony is on in the background and even lifelong cynics who desperately want to criticise the quadrennial event know this is not the moment for that. For those who love a bit of romance with their sport, the next fortnight will be ours. Sure, there’ll be drug cheats and dreadful behaviour exposed years from now, but they are never able to sully the magic.
