SMETHWICK HAVE retained their Birmingham & District League title despite losing to second place Halesowen. The champions went down to their rivals by one wicket, but picked up eight bonus points which were enough to see them into an unassailable position going into the final day of the season.
Batting first, Smethwick were bowled out for 275, Deepak Khatri making 101 from 74 balls as Eddie Rhodes picked up 4-38.
