First impressions matter for those making decisions around England’s Test team and Sam Cook’s first opportunity at Test cricket will have brought, if not a full-throated roar of approval from the kingmakers, then a knowing purr.
The second day of a Test is rarely moving day.
The pitch is usually somewhere near its best for batting which makes bowling hard work.
