NICK COMPTON says he feels proud to have followed in the proud footsteps of his legendary grandfather Denis on announcing his retirement yesterday.
The 35-year-old has called time on his two decades of cricket at the highest level, yielding 402 1st XI first-class matches, over 12,000 runs and 16 Test match appearances for England.
Compton’s decision comes in the year where he was awarded a Testimonial Year by Middlesex and the centenary of his grandfather Denis, perhaps the club’s greatest ever player.
