Master of his art: Brian Close will be fondly remembered

I WAS glad to see the letters page resurfacing in The Cricket Paper, although I must take Derek Pringle to task.
In his affectionate tribute to dear old Brian Close, he reckoned most would remember him for taking the vicious four-man pace attack on the body in 1976.
On the contrary Pring, Closey’s finest hour was the 70 runs he made against Hall and Griffith at their fiercest to almost snatch victory in the 1963 series – only perhaps Pring was still in nappies and missed it!
