There would have been sniggers as well as knowing nods over Harry Brook’s credentials to be an England captain when the notion was aired last week. Brook’s brilliance as a batter of special gifts is obvious, unlike his leadership qualities which although unproven come freighted with all manner of prejudices like class, accent and education – even in the 21st century.
