Sonny Baker is no stranger to making up for lost time. Still only 22, he made his County Championship bow for Hampshire a fortnight ago after a build-up not afforded to many bowlers in recent history.
After hitting speeds of 92mph in this winter’s Global Super League, Baker already has backers in high places in the England set-up and dismissing Jonny Bairstow twice in Hampshire’s opening-week win over Yorkshire, then taking a fivefer against the champions Surrey at The Oval last week, has only served to heighten the excitement surrounding him.
