Essex are hoping that 27-year-old seamer Zaman Akhter, acquired at the end of last season, will bolster an attack which has struggled to bowl sides out of late.

Essex are hoping that 27-year-old seamer Zaman Akhter, acquired at the end of last season, will bolster an attack which has struggled to bowl sides out of late.
Akhter is one of several players to leave Gloucestershire in recent months, and he clearly retains affection for the west country club.
“It was tough to leave the county that gave me my first opportunity; I think there was always going to be a bit of loyalty there,” said Akhter.
“It was a good three years learning about professional cricket. It was obviously sad to go, and I made some really good friends there.”
