Future stars: Watkiss and Young did the business for Ferring

IT WAS youth to the fore for Ferring 2XI in Division 12 West (South) of the Sussex League last weekend as they defeated Southwick and Shoreham 2XI by 20 runs.
Batting first, Ferring made 193-4 in their 40 overs, 14-year-old Thomas Watkiss carrying his bat for 90 not out from 137 balls, 18 of those runs coming from the final over of the innings.
In reply, Southwick and Shoreham were restricted to 173-9, another 14-year-old, Thomas Young, taking 5-30, his maiden senior five-wicket haul.
