The first five-day women’s Test match was held in Sydney in February 1992. It took until last week in Nottingham for us to see the second. The women’s game has changed radically in the intervening years, but the wait has gone on for the repeat of a five-dayer. And so here it finally was: Australia, the great champions and indisputably the best team in the world, against England, more than capable of springing a surprise.
