Dashing: Sam Curran hits out for England

WHATEVER happens in the remainder of this fourth Test, there can be no masking the deficiencies in England’s batting line-up.
It seems highly likely after an action-packed opening day in Southampton that India will square the series at 2-2 and take this to a decider at the Kia Oval next week.
If that is the case, Joe Root’s team will have to pick themselves up off the floor and raise themselves for one last effort to avoid a first home Test series defeat since 2014.
