IN the end, the anticipated cauldron of hostility Australia were expected to face at The Oval in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal never materialised.
But for a marketing stunt by one enterprising company handing out sandpaper four and six cards, this first ODI passed off without the faintest whiff of controversy on or off the field.
