FOR a few gut-wrenching seconds on the fourth afternoon of this enthralling second Ashes Test time stood still. Steve Smith lay prone on the turf after being struck on the neck by a 93 miles-per-hour short ball from Jofra Archer.
Lord’s gasped as one. Thankfully Smith started moving soon after. Everybody’s worst fears had not been realised.
