Cross has paved the way for a new generation

Kate Cross has broken new ground throughout her career – but sometimes wishes she hadn’t needed to.
The England seamer was the first female to be accepted into the Lancashire Academy at the age of 15. She then became the first woman to play in the Central Lancashire League, with Heywood in 2015.
She opened doors so the current generation of female stars don’t have to – and the world now open to them couldn’t be further removed from the one she entered as a teenager.
And she couldn’t be prouder of the growth she witnessed in the sport she loves.
