Golden boy James Rew is hoping the Metro Bank One-Day Cup will help pave the way for the fulfilment of two long-term ambitions at the end of an already unforgettable season.
The 19-year-old wicketkeeper has already stamped himself as a potential England Test player by becoming the youngest ever Somerset double centurion in first-class cricket and the first player to reach 1,000 runs for the season in Division One of the County Championship.
