JAMES Franklin is setting his sights higher than merely stemming the tide of turmoil at Durham – he wants to reinstate the county as “one of the powers” of domestic cricket.
Kiwi Franklin, who led Middlesex to County Championship glory in 2016, penned a two-year deal as the club’s head coach on Wednesday, succeeding Jon Lewis.
The north-east club have been plagued by points deductions and high-profile departures, sinking to ninth and eighth in County Championship Division Two in the last two seasons.
