Stepping into the shoes of a Middlesex wicketkeeping legend might sound a little scary – but Jack Davies is up for the challenge.
Davies fought off competition from Seaxes’ teammates Robbie White and Joe Cracknell for the right to be behind the timbers at the start of this season’s County Championship campaign after John Simpson called time on 15 years at Lord’s over the winter to head south to skipper Sussex.
Simpson left behind a huge legacy, his tally of 659 victims placing him fourth on the all-time list of Middlesex gloveman.
