FORMER players from both sides were rightly full of praise for Alastair Cook’s unbeaten 244 in Melbourne – with the exception of Kevin Pietersen’s churlish remarks.
In the 2013-14 series, Pietersen’s scores in the first three Tests before, in his words, ‘the Ashes are gone’ were 18, 26, 4, 53, 19 and 45, averaging only 29.4 over the whole series!
