Fletcher injury sparks substitute debate

THE ECB is considering the introduction of concussion substitutes following the injury to Nottingham’s Luke Fletcher.
Paceman Fletcher was struck on the head by a ball hit straight back at him by Sam Hain in the T20 Blast, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
As it stands, teams can only replace a seriously injured player with a fielding substitute, though an ECB committee meet in September and is poised to discuss allowing teams to substitute a player.
It is currently on trial in Australia, where concussion substitutes are being used in state cricket.
