An Indian masterclass has whet the appetite

I ATTENDED the opening game of the ICC Women’s World Cup at Derby and I was very impressed with both the quality and entertainment of the cricket on show.
As disappointing as the result was for England, India put in a very impressive performance with bat and ball, while the innings played by Smriti Mandhana was wonderful. She will surely be a big star in the future.
Backed up by her captain, Mithali Raj, the Indian opening bowlers never let England get off to a start and they never truly recovered despite Fran Wilson’s best efforts.
