Cook rolls back the years to lift Essex

HAVING scored only one first-class fifty in 14 previous visits to Trent Bridge, former England captain Sir Alastair Cook made it two in one match and stands just 13 runs away from his first century on this ground as Essex overcame a substantial first-innings deficit to nose ahead against Nottinghamshire. England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer is 87 not out with skipper Tom Westley unbeaten on 70 and Essex are 55 runs in front at the end of day three of their County Championship match, closing on 199 for one.
