Tim Murtagh admits he will be feeling a tinge of jealousy watching from the stands as the next generation of Ireland players take on England at Lord’s on Thursday.
The veteran Middlesex seamer has good reason to remember the first time these sides met in Test cricket in 2019 when he ran through England’s top order on the opening morning, taking five wickets for just 13 runs as England were dismissed for 85. His haul that day included Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes, all without scoring.
