Moeen Ali’s accusation that one of the Australian players called him “Osama” during the first Test of the 2015 Ashes in Cardiff throws up several serious issues.
The most depressing thought of all, however, is that even if the player concerned didn’t say it (and he asserts that he actually called Moeen “parttimer”) no-one would be shocked in the slightest to learn he had done.
