For those of us who have been banging on about the absolute necessity of getting live cricket – any live cricket – back on free-to-air television in this country, confirmation that this is now also a priority for the England and Wales Cricket Board has come not a moment too soon.
Not to put too fine a point on it, it feels like 12 years – since England cricket disappeared from free-to-air screens immediately after the golden Ashes summer of 2005 – too late.
