Just me, my boy, and the Oval Invincibles

A week or so ago I had the perfect view of Spencer Johnson’s 3-1 – that’s three wickets for one run off 20 balls – for Oval Invincibles against Manchester Originals in the men’s Hundred. I was sitting right behind him, up in the stands among a packed Oval crowd. My enraptured eight-year-old son sat next to me.
For those of you that still don’t know, Spencer Johnson is a rapid Australian left-armer, already 27 and with a spate of injuries behind him. He made his first-class and Big Bash debuts last winter. Three days before his Invincibles debut he’d been playing in Canada.
