For a county cricketer, nothing beats Finals Day

When I played for Leicestershire in the first-ever T20 Finals Day in 2003, few of us knew what to make of this new form of pyjama cricket. Atomic Kitten performed a live concert at that first Finals Day, and I remember thinking, ‘what is this?’.
Things had changed by the time I played in my last T20 final in 2021. The first thing you did as a player when you got the calendar for the season was to look up the date of Finals Day.
Four teams, four lots of supporters, mascots, fireworks, fancy dress, songs, TV cameras.
I envy the four teams who will be taking part in Finals Day ...
