It’s good that the T20 Blast is played out in one block now, with just a handful of Championship games between the first game and Finals Day on July 15. We used to have the T20 competition running alongside four-day cricket, so you might have a Championship match starting on the Sunday or Monday and then you’d be back into T20 by Friday. That was bonkers.
The feel around the club changes when you move into T20 mode. For a start there are a number of white-ball specialists who come into the team.
