Barry Richards spent last Wednesday addressing the Hampshire Cricket Society – and, on the 50th anniversary of Hampshire’s most recent County Championship success, they hung on his every word.
Doubtless, some of them travel to the Ageas with memories of regal batting still fresh in their mind, despite the passing of time.
The chances of the current Hampshire side marking that anniversary in the most glorious way imaginable can’t be dismissed. They have after all, been in touching distance of the First Division crown for the past two seasons.
