I should have played against the New Zealanders when they came over in 1966 but my eldest was on the way. Then when she was two-and-a-half, an England tour went over to Australia and New Zealand for fourand-a-half months. I said I couldn’t leave but my mother said she wanted to look after my daughter in the week and my husband could do it at the weekend, which they did.
