Yorkshire in mourning for legend Lawry

YORKSHIRE County Cricket Club are mourning the death of the club’s former President and Chairman, Sir Lawrence ‘Lawry’ Byford, who died on Saturday at the age of 92.
Sir Lawrence – the former Chief Inspector of Constabulary, who led an inquiry into the failings of the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper before his retirement in 1987 – was a staunch Yorkshire member for many years and succeeded Sir Len Hutton as the club’s chairman following his death in September 1990.
