Bears’ struggles have not all been Bell’s fault

PAUL Nixon made some pertinent comments after Ian Bell’s resignation (“If ever Trott was ready to be skipper, it’s now…”) as Warwickshire captain.
It is sad, and Bell would have given it his all, but his public proclamation of fighting to regain his England spot can only have been a distraction.
His form over the last two years in the Championship has been poor in a side which has struggled for runs.
What Nixon did not state is Warwickshire have also underachieved because they had a limited and ageing attack.
