Injured skipper Topham is the hero in dramatic tie

NORTH WHEATLEY with Leverton captain Richard Topham helped his side clinch an unlikely tie with Harthill in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League. Having injured himself in the field, Topham, who usually opens the batting, came in at No.11 with Wheatley struggling at 148-9 still 97 runs in arrears. He went on to hit 64 not out from 57 balls, putting on 97 for the tenth wicket with Jonathan Ellis (42 not out), the latter hitting a boundary off the final ball of the innings to secure an unlikely tie.
