Beck’s golden finish keeps title bid on track

WITH a target of 199 to beat Canterbury, but already nine down, it was up to wicket-keeper James Balmforth and Shojib Ali, who hadn’t batted an innings all season, to scrape a vital win for Kent league leaders Beckenham.
And with just half an over to go, Balmforth managed to hit the decisive 200th run, bringing his total on the crease up to five and providing his side with a muchneeded victory as the title race approaches its closing stages.
