NEVER in all of his 25 years playing first-team cricket for Downend has Matthew Jackson come anywhere close to the 9-27 he notched against Taunton.
The 39-year-old former skipper struck first and then returned to skittle the visitors’ remaining eight batsmen as they limped to a manageable target of 165.
However Downend couldn’t sum up a batting performance to match Jackson’s heroics with the ball and after suffering a top-order collapse, finished the afternoon all out for 121.
