1,000 not out for Marske’s main man

DAVID Beach has been keeping score at Marske Cricket Club since 1959 and, after 45 years and 44 seasons at the club, he has overseen his 1,000th Marske match in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Premier Division.
Beach reached the milestone as Marske drew at Seaton Carew last weekend after a tantalising winter just one game away from the extraordinary achievement.
Marske had several matches abandoned due to rain at the back end of last season which scuppered Beach’s chances of an end of season celebration.
And the club legend is set for his homecoming...
