HASEEB Hameed has committed his future to Lancashire by signing a new four-year contract at the Red Rose county.

The batsman, 19, has been at Old Trafford since he was aged just nine and made his first-class debut last season. In just his third match he scored 91 against Surrey.

Hameed captains England U19s and was over the moon to be able to sign on the dotted line and remain at the county where he is coached by Ashley Giles.

Hameed said: “When Ash came up to me and offered me the deal I was delighted to accept it. I don’t think I’ve ever hidden the fact I do want to play for England in the future.

“Hopefully putting in performances for Lancashire that will come, but the key thing for me is taking it step by step whilst having those ambitions.”
