England have added Notts seamer Jake Ball to their squad for the T20 Triangular series against Australia and New Zealand.

The 26-year-old will provide cover for Liam Plunkett who continues his recovery from a hamstring injury picked up in the third ODI of England’s triumphant 4-1 victory over Australia.

Ball also acts as cover for Chris Jordan who, like Plunkett, is working his way back from a hamstring injury but is more likely to be in contention to feature in Eoin Morgan’s team than the Yorkshire bowler.

England are in Canberra preparing for a warm-up match against a Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval on Friday, thereafter they face two games against Australia followed by two contests with New Zealand.

Friday’s match in Canberra is expected to come too soon for Alex Hales who has been troubled with a hand injury, though he, Plunkett and Jordan have a shot at being fit for the first T20 in Hobart next Wednesday.
