OTHERS may have been amazed by Ben Stokes’ almost super-human efforts at Headingley two weeks ago but Geoff Cook wasn’t among them.
He had seen it all before.
The former Durham coach knows England’s flame-haired star as well as anyone, having overseen his development as a youngster at Chesterle- Street and then marvelled at his progression in the county’s first team.
While others lost hope of England pulling off another miracle in Leeds, Cook was telling those writing the hosts off that while there was Stokes there was still hope.
